Ragini meaning
Ragini (रागिनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A musical mode derived from a raga; a form of Lakshmi
Also used to mean: melody
Ragini (रागिनी) is the Sanskrit rāgiṇī, a word from Indian music. Monier-Williams defines it as a modification of a rāga, the basic melodic mode, and notes that 35 or 36 rāgiṇīs were enumerated in the music treatises. Grammatically it is the feminine of rāgin, "coloured" and also "impassioned, affectionate, delighting", from the same root as rāga itself. The dictionary further gives Rāgiṇī as the name of Menakā's eldest daughter and of a form of Lakṣmī in the Purāṇas. Name lists usually render it simply as "melody", a fair everyday summary of the musical sense. The name is used by Hindu families across India and is sometimes spelled Raagini.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Lakshmi.
