Dhwani meaning
Dhwani (ध्वनि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Sound, echo, voice, tone, tune; in poetics, suggested meaning
Also used to mean: melody
Dhwani (ध्वनि) is the Sanskrit dhvani, which Monier-Williams gives as sound, echo, voice, tone and tune, from the Atharvaveda on, and also the roll of a drum or of thunder. In Sanskrit poetics dhvani has a special sense: the suggested meaning that a verse conveys beyond its literal words, which the critic Ānandavardhana called the soul of poetry in his Dhvanyāloka. Name lists give "sound", "voice" or "melody", which match the dictionary. The name is used in Gujarat, Maharashtra and North India, and is spelled both Dhwani and Dhvani.
