Devaki meaning
Devaki (देवकी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Name of the mother of Krishna
Also used to mean: divine, divine one
Devaki (देवकी) is known above all as the mother of Krishna. Monier-Williams records Devakī as the daughter of Devaka, wife of Vasudeva and mother of Kṛṣṇa in the Mahābhārata, the Harivaṃśa and the Purāṇas, and notes that the Harivaṃśa identifies her with Aditi, the mother of the gods. Her father's name, Devaka, comes from deva, "god", and the dictionary glosses devaka as "divine, celestial". Baby-name lists today usually translate Devaki as "divine" or "divine one". That reading follows the root, but the dictionaries record devakī itself only as her name, so the name's real weight lies in the story of the mother who gave birth to Krishna.
