Devi meaning
Devi (देवी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A goddess; a queen, a lady of high rank
Also used to mean: divine
Devi (देवी) is the Sanskrit feminine of deva, "god". Monier-Williams gives devī as a female deity or goddess, from the Rigveda on, applying it to the dawn goddess Uṣas, to Sarasvatī and Sāvitrī, and to Durgā, the wife of Śiva. It was also a title for a queen, a princess or any woman of high rank. In Hindu worship Devī on its own usually means the Great Goddess, honoured in texts such as the Devī Māhātmya. The word is also added after a woman's name as a respectful title, and it is also given on its own as a first name.
