Deepmala meaning
Deepmala (दीपमाला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A row of lamps; an illumination
Also used to mean: garland of lamps
Deepmala (दीपमाला) is the Sanskrit dīpa-mālā, made from dīpa, "lamp", and mālā, "garland" or "row". Monier-Williams gives it as a row of lamps or an illumination, citing the Mahabharata. The same picture lies behind the festival of Diwali, when houses and temples are lined with rows of lamps, and many temples in western India have a tall stone dīpmāḷ, a lamp tower, at their entrance. Name lists give Deepmala as "garland of lamps" or "row of lamps", which matches the dictionary. It is used in North India, and is written Deepamala in the South.
