Anshu meaning
Anshu (अंशु) is a Hindu unisex name of Sanskrit origin, used for both girls and boys. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A ray of light, sunbeam; a filament, especially of the Soma plant
Anshu (अंशु) is the Sanskrit aṃśu. Its oldest sense, from the Rig Veda, is a filament or shoot of the Soma plant, and Monier-Williams then gives a thread, a minute particle, a point, and a ray of light or sunbeam, which is the sense the name carries. The same word underlies Anshuman, "radiant", a name of the sun. In India Anshu is given to both girls and boys. Well-known bearers include the wrestler Anshu Malik, world championship silver medallist in 2021, and the mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa.
