Anshuman meaning
Anshuman (अंशुमान) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Radiant, luminous; the sun or the moon
Also used to mean: sun rays
Anshuman (अंशुमान) comes from Sanskrit aṃśumat, "having rays", from aṃśu, "a ray, a filament". Monier-Williams gives it as radiant or luminous, and as a noun the sun or the moon, the two bodies that send out rays. Aṃśumat is also the name of a prince of the solar dynasty, the grandson of King Sagara, who appears in the story of how the Gaṅgā was brought down to earth. Name lists give Anshuman as "the sun", "radiant" or "sun rays", matching the dictionary. In Bengal it is written Angshuman.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Surya.
