Mohnish meaning
Mohnish (मोहनीश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit-based origin (mohana + īśa). By its first sound, मो, it is a Simha rashi name (Purva Phalguni nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The enchanting lord (mohana + īśa)
Also used to mean: Lord Krishna, delightful
Mohnish (मोहनीश) is usually explained as Mohan, "the enchanter", a favourite name of Krishna, with the ending -īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives mohana as bewildering or enchanting, and as a title of Shiva; īśa means a lord or master. Together they give "the enchanting lord", and name lists simply call Mohnish a name of Krishna. The compound is not in the classical dictionaries, and a split into moh and nish, "night", seen online has no support. Well-known bearers include the actor Mohnish Bahl and the investor Mohnish Pabrai.
