Swagat meaning

Swagat (स्वागत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.

Welcome, greeting, salutation

Swagat (स्वागत) is Sanskrit sv-āgata, from su, "well", and āgata, "come", so literally "well come". Monier-Williams gives the adjective as welcome and the noun as welcome, greeting or salutation, as in the Sanskrit phrase svāgataṃ te, "welcome to you", found in the Mahabharata and classical poetry. It also records Svāgata as the name of a Buddha and of a king. The word is still the standard Hindi and Marathi word for welcome. Name lists give Swagat as "welcome", matching the dictionary, and families use it for a child who is warmly welcomed.
