Giriraj meaning
Giriraj (गिरिराज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
King of mountains; the Himalaya
Also used to mean: lord of the mountains
Giriraj (गिरिराज) joins Sanskrit giri, "mountain", and rāj or rāja, "king". Monier-Williams gives girirāj as "mountain-king", a name of Himavat, the Himalaya, in the Mahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana, and Apte's dictionary agrees. Name lists give Giriraj as "king of mountains", which matches. Govardhan hill near Mathura, which Krishna is said to have lifted, is also called Giriraj, so the name carries a Krishna connection too. Girraj is a Rajasthani and western Uttar Pradesh spelling.
