Girijesh (गिरिजेश) joins Girijā and īśa. Monier-Williams gives Girijā, "mountain-born", as a name of the goddess Pārvatī, daughter of the personified Himalaya, and īśa as a lord and a name of Śiva. So the name means "lord of Girija", that is Shiva, Pārvatī's husband. Many name lists give it instead as "king of the mountain", a sense that belongs to the related name Girish (giri + īśa). The compound itself is not in the classical dictionaries. Girjesh is a North Indian spelling.
