Arpit meaning
Arpit (अर्पित) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Offered, entrusted; placed, fixed
Arpit (अर्पित) is the Sanskrit arpita, a past participle meaning "placed" or "fixed". Monier-Williams shows how the sense widens: in the Ṛgveda it means inserted or fixed in place; later it is used of eyes or a mind fixed on something, of an arrow cast into its target, of an image engraved or painted on a surface, and finally of something offered, delivered or entrusted to another, or given back. The sense parents usually intend is that last one, familiar from worship, where flowers or food are offered to a deity. Indian name lists give Arpit as "offered" or "dedicated", which fits the dictionary. Its feminine form is Arpita.
