Sudama meaning
Sudama (सुदामा) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A bountiful giver; name of a poor Brahmin helped by Kṛṣṇa
Also used to mean: friend of krishna, generous
Sudama (सुदामा) is Sanskrit su-dāman, from su, "good", and dāman, "giving"; Sudāmā is its nominative form. Monier-Williams gives it as a bountiful giver in the Rigveda, and also as a cloud, and records the poor Brahmin who came to Dvārakā to ask Krishna's help and was made wealthy by him, as well as a cowherd companion of Krishna. In later tradition the Brahmin Sudama is Krishna's childhood friend from their gurukul days, who brings a humble gift of beaten rice; the story is told as a lesson in friendship and devotion. Name lists give Sudama as "friend of Krishna" or "generous", which match the dictionary and the story.
