Bhanudas meaning
Bhanudas (भानुदास) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage). By its first sound, भा, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Mula nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Servant or devotee of the sun (bhānu 'the sun' + dāsa 'servant')
Bhanudas (भानुदास) joins bhānu, which Monier-Williams gives as light, a ray and the sun, to dāsa, "servant", which is common at the end of Indian personal names in the sense of a devotee. Name lists give "devotee of the sun", which matches the parts. In Maharashtra the name belongs to Sant Bhanudas (1448–1513), a Varkari saint who is said to have brought the image of Vithoba back to Pandharpur from Vijayanagara; he worshipped the sun as a boy before turning to Vithoba, and he was the great-grandfather of Sant Eknath.
