Aniruddha meaning
Aniruddha (अनिरुद्ध) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Unobstructed, ungovernable, self-willed; grandson of Krishna
Also used to mean: unstoppable, boundless
Aniruddha (अनिरुद्ध) means "not held back", from a-, "not", and niruddha, "obstructed" or "restrained". Monier-Williams gives the adjective as unobstructed, ungovernable and self-willed. In the epics and Purāṇas Aniruddha is the son of Pradyumna and grandson of Krishna, described in MW as a form of Kāma, and the husband of Uṣā, daughter of the asura king Bāṇa; the Bhāgavata Purāṇa tells the story of their marriage. MW also records Aniruddha as a name of Śiva and of an Arhat who lived in the Buddha's time. Name lists give "unstoppable" or "boundless", fair readings of "unobstructed". Anirudh is a shorter spelling.
