Shardul meaning
Shardul (शार्दूल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage).
A tiger; also a lion or leopard; pre-eminent, best
Shardul (शार्दूल) is Sanskrit śārdūla, a tiger. Monier-Williams traces the word back to the Vājasaneyi Saṃhitā and lists further senses of lion, panther and leopard. Used at the end of a compound it means the best or most eminent of its kind, so the epics praise heroes as "tigers among men". The word also names a Sanskrit metre, śārdūlavikrīḍita, "the tiger's play", one of the best known in classical poetry. Shardul is a Marathi boys' name, carried by the cricketer Shardul Thakur.
