Shakir meaning
Shakir (شاکر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Thankful, grateful; one who gives thanks and praise
Shakir (شاکر) is the Arabic shākir, "one who gives thanks", from shakara, "to thank, to be grateful". Lane's lexicon explains the verb as thanking someone for a kindness and acknowledging it gratefully; Steingass gives shākir as thankful and praising, also resigned or contented, and notes that it is used of God. The Quran describes the prophet Ibrahim as "grateful for His favours", shākiran li-anʿumihi (16:121), and calls God shākir, "appreciative" of good deeds (2:158).
