Ammar meaning
Ammar (عمار) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Frequent in prayer and fasting; firm in faith; a builder
Also used to mean: devout
Ammar (عمار) is the Arabic ʿammār, an intensive form from the root ʿ-m-r, whose verbs Lane's lexicon gives as "to live long", "to dwell in a place", "to make a place prosperous" and "to build", and, in the phrase ʿamara rabbahu, "to serve one's Lord with prayer and fasting". Steingass records ʿammār itself as one frequent in prayer and fasting, strong in faith, steady and grave, and also a builder or cultivator. Name lists give "builder" or "devout". The name honours ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir, one of the earliest converts to Islam.
