Anirudh meaning
Anirudh (अनिरुद्ध) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Unobstructed, unrestrained; a grandson of Krishna
Anirudh (अनिरुद्ध) is the Sanskrit a-niruddha, "not held back", formed from the negative a- and niruddha, "obstructed, restrained". Monier-Williams gives it as unobstructed, ungovernable or self-willed. In the Purāṇas Aniruddha is the son of Pradyumna and so the grandson of Krishna, since Pradyumna was Krishna's son by Rukmiṇī; MW describes Aniruddha as a form of Kāma, the god of love, and as the husband of Uṣā. The dictionary also lists the name for Śiva and for an Arhat who lived in the Buddha's time. Indian name lists give Anirudh as "unobstructed" or "unstoppable", close to the dictionary sense.
