Amarendra meaning
Amarendra (अमरेन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord of the immortals, i.e. Indra (amara + indra)
Also used to mean: king of the gods
Amarendra (अमरेन्द्र) joins amara, "immortal", which as a noun means a god, with indra, "chief" and the name of the king of the gods. Monier-Williams gives amara as undying and imperishable, and as a god or deity; he records the parallel compound amarapa, "lord of the gods", as a name of Indra. Amarendra itself is not a dictionary headword, but its sense is the same, and name lists give it as "king of the gods" or a name of Indra. The Punjabi form Amarinder is borne by the former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh.
