Megh meaning
Megh (मेघ) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मे, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A cloud
Megh (मेघ) is Sanskrit megha, the everyday word for a cloud, especially the rain cloud; Hindi drops the final short a, giving Megh. Monier-Williams also lists it as the name of a rāga, one of the classical melodic modes, and of a king. Clouds carry special weight in Indian poetry because they bring the monsoon. In Kalidasa's Meghadūta, "the cloud messenger", an exiled yaksha asks a passing monsoon cloud to carry his message to his beloved in the Himalayan city of Alakā, and Britannica notes that most of the poem describes the sights along the cloud's route. Name lists give Megh simply as "cloud", the same as the dictionary.
