Nilambar meaning
Nilambar (नीलाम्बर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, नी, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Dressed in blue: a name of Balarama; dark-blue cloth
Also used to mean: clad in blue, blue sky
Nilambar (नीलाम्बर) is Sanskrit nīlāmbara, "dressed in blue", from nīla, "dark blue", and ambara, a garment. Monier-Williams records it as a name of Balarama, Krishna's elder brother, who is traditionally shown in dark-blue clothes, and also of the planet Saturn and of several authors. Because ambara also means "sky", name lists give both "clad in blue" and "blue sky". Nilambar and his brother Pitambar led the 1857 uprising in Palamu, in present-day Jharkhand.
