Upanshu meaning
Upanshu (उपांशु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, उ, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A prayer said in a low voice; (adverb) in a whisper, secretly
Also used to mean: chanting softly, whispered prayer
Upanshu (उपांशु) is the Sanskrit upāṃśu. Monier-Williams gives it as an adverb meaning "secretly" or "in a low voice, in a whisper", and as a noun for a prayer murmured so softly that no one else can hear it; in the Vedic ritual it is also the name of a Soma offering. In the tradition of japa, the repetition of a mantra, upāṃśu japa is the middle way between chanting aloud and silent repetition in the mind. Name lists give Upanshu as "chanting softly" or "a hymn recited in a low voice", which matches the dictionary.
