Meghnad meaning
Meghnad (मेघनाद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, मे, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Thunder, the roar of clouds; name of Ravana's son Indrajit
Meghnad (मेघनाद) is Sanskrit meghanāda, from megha, "cloud", and nāda, "sound, roar", so "the roar of the clouds", thunder. Monier-Williams also records it as a name of the sea god Varuna and, most famously, as the name of Ravana's son in the Ramayana, the great warrior later called Indrajit, "conqueror of Indra". Name lists give "thunder" or "roar of clouds", which matches the dictionary. In Bengal the name gained respect through Michael Madhusudan Dutt's epic Meghnad Badh Kavya, which makes Meghnad its tragic hero, and it was carried by the astrophysicist Meghnad Saha and the economist Meghnad Desai.
