Digambar meaning
Digambar (दिगंबर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Sky-clothed; an epithet of Shiva or Skanda
Also used to mean: sky-clad, Lord Shiva
Digambar (दिगंबर) is the Sanskrit dig-ambara, from diś, "a direction, a quarter of the sky", and ambara, "garment": one whose only clothing is the sky. Monier-Williams gives it as naked, a naked mendicant of the Jain or Buddhist orders, and an epithet of Śiva or Skanda, with digambarī as a name of Durgā. Śiva is called Digambara as the ascetic who has given up everything. The word is also the name of one of the two great Jain traditions, whose monks renounce clothing. As a Hindu name it is used in Maharashtra, where Dattatreya is hailed as Digambara in a well-known devotional chant.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
