Devdutt meaning
Devdutt (देवदत्त) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
God-given; name of Arjuna's conch
Also used to mean: gift of God
Devdutt (देवदत्त) is the Sanskrit deva-datta, from deva, "god", and datta, "given", so the name simply means "god-given", as Monier-Williams records and Indian name lists agree. The word has a long history: Devadatta is the name of Arjuna's conch in the Mahabharata, of the Buddha's cousin and rival, and of several authors, and Sanskrit grammarians used it the way English uses "John Smith", as the standard name for any man in an example sentence. Today the name is carried by the mythology writer Devdutt Pattanaik and the cricketer Devdutt Padikkal.
