Durgesh meaning
Durgesh (दुर्गेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the fortress; also read as lord of Durga (Shiva)
Also used to mean: lord of forts, Lord Shiva
Durgesh (दुर्गेश) joins durga with īśa, "master, lord". Monier-Williams gives durga as difficult of access or impassable, and as a noun, a stronghold or citadel, so the name can mean "lord of the fortress". It can equally be read with Durgā, the goddess whose name comes from the same word, as "lord of Durga", a title of Śiva as her consort. Indian name lists give both, "lord of forts" and "Lord Shiva". The compound is not in the classical dictionaries, but Durgesh is used as a name in North India.
