Chaitanya meaning
Chaitanya (चैतन्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Consciousness, intelligence, spirit; the Universal Soul
Chaitanya (चैतन्य) comes from Sanskrit caitanya, formed from cetana, "conscious, alive". Monier-Williams gives it as consciousness, intelligence, sensation, soul and spirit, and in philosophy the Universal Soul. Baby-name lists give the name as "consciousness", matching the dictionary. The dictionary also records it as the name of the Vaiṣṇava reformer born about 1485, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu of Bengal, whose devotional singing of Krishna's names shaped Bengali and Odia religious life and later the Hare Krishna movement. The name is used across India for boys, and Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya carries it.
