Chandrajit meaning
Chandrajit (चंद्रजीत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Conqueror of the moon (candra + jit, 'winning, conquering')
Also used to mean: victorious moon
Chandrajit (चंद्रजीत) joins Sanskrit candra, "moon", with jit, which Monier-Williams gives at the end of compounds as winning, acquiring or conquering, as in Indrajit, "conqueror of Indra". Chandrajit therefore reads as "conqueror of the moon", and baby-name lists give it as that or as "victorious moon". The compound itself is not a dictionary headword. In Hindi it is usually written with a long ī, matching jīt, "victory". Chandrajit Yadav, a Union minister in the 1970s, carried the name.
