Mrigank meaning
Mrigank (मृगांक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The moon, literally 'deer-marked'; also camphor, the wind
Mrigank (मृगांक) is Sanskrit mṛgāṅka, "marked with a deer", from mṛga, "deer", and aṅka, "mark". Where European folklore sees a man in the moon, Indian tradition sees a deer or a hare in its markings, so the deer-marked one is the moon itself. Monier-Williams records this sense from the Mricchakatika and later works, and also lists camphor and the wind among the word's meanings. Name lists give "moon", matching the dictionary. Mriganka is the Bengali form, and Mrugank is used in Maharashtra.
