Chandra meaning
Chandra (चंद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin, also used for girls.
The moon; glittering, shining
Chandra (चंद्र) is the most familiar Sanskrit word for the moon. Monier-Williams gives candra first as an adjective, glittering or shining like gold, then as a noun, the moon, also worshipped as a god. Chandra the moon-god appears in the Purāṇas as the husband of the twenty-seven nakṣatras and as the ancestor of the Lunar dynasty of the Mahābhārata kings. Baby-name lists give the name as "moon". It is used alone and in many compounds such as Chandrashekhar and Chandrakant, and Punjabi families often write Chander.
