Ratilal meaning
Ratilal (रतिलाल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit and Hindi origin (Gujarati usage).
Rati 'delight, love' + Hindi lāl 'darling, son'
Also used to mean: precious son
Ratilal (रतिलाल, Gujarati રતિલાલ) is a Gujarati name. Rati is Sanskrit for pleasure, delight and fondness, and in mythology Rati is the wife of Kāma, the god of love. Lāl is the Hindi word for a darling or a little son, which ends many older names such as Shantilal and Kantilal. Name lists give Ratilal as "precious son" or "love"; the first rests on a claimed word ratil, "jewel", which we could not find. Well-known bearers include Ratilal Chandaria, the businessman who founded the Gujarati Lexicon dictionary project, and the Gujarati writer Ratilal 'Anil'.
