Vraj meaning
Vraj (व्रज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Gujarati usage).
A cattle station; Braj, the land of Krishna's childhood
Vraj (व्रज, Gujarati વ્રજ) is the Sanskrit name of Braj, the cowherd country around Mathura where Krishna grew up. Monier-Williams first gives vraja as a cattle-pen or herdsmen's station, then as the district round Agra and Mathura, home of Nanda, Krishna's foster-father, and the scene of his childhood, and also as a herd or multitude. Name lists give Vraj as Krishna's land, which matches. Gujarati keeps the older v- form, while North India usually says Braj or Brij, and the word begins longer names such as Vrajesh and Vrajraj.
