Kalp meaning
Kalp (कल्प) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Gujarati usage).
Able, fit; a sacred precept; an aeon, a day of Brahma
Also used to mean: competent
Kalp (कल्प, Gujarati કલ્પ) is the Sanskrit word kalpa, one of the richest short words in the language. Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective meaning practicable, proper, fit and able; as a noun meaning a sacred precept or rule, the sense behind the Kalpa-sūtras of Vedic ritual; and as the vast cosmic age, a single day of Brahmā lasting a thousand yugas. Joined with taru or vṛkṣa it names the wish-granting tree of paradise. Name lists give Kalp as "aeon" or "competent", both in the dictionary. It is used as a short boys' name mainly in Gujarati families.
