Chakresh (चक्रेश) is Sanskrit cakreśa, from cakra, "wheel, discus", and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it as "sovereign of the world", the same as cakravartin, the ideal universal king whose chariot wheels roll everywhere without obstruction. Baby-name lists give the name as "lord of the discus" or Lord Vishnu, reading cakra as the Sudarshana discus that Vishnu carries. That devotional sense is a natural reading of the parts, but it is not the sense the dictionary records. The goddess Chakreshvari, the guardian of the first Jain Tirthankara, carries the feminine form.
