Pashupati meaning
Pashupati (पशुपति) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of animals or of souls; a name of Rudra-Śiva; Agni
Also used to mean: lord shiva
Pashupati (पशुपति) joins Sanskrit paśu, "animal, living creature", with pati, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it as "lord of animals", or in a philosophical sense "lord of the soul", and records it as a name of Rudra-Shiva and of Agni. In Shaiva thought every soul is a paśu bound by worldly ties, and Shiva as Pashupati is the lord who frees it. The great Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu is dedicated to him. Name lists give "lord of animals" or "Lord Shiva", the same as the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
