Charu meaning
Charu (चारु) is a Hindu unisex name of Sanskrit origin, used for both girls and boys. By its first sound, चा, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Agreeable, beloved; lovely, beautiful
Charu (चारु) is the Sanskrit cāru, "agreeable, dear, pleasing, lovely, beautiful". It begins many compounds that describe grace and beauty; one of them, cāru-hāsinī, "sweetly smiling", is an epithet of Rukmiṇī, the chief queen of Kṛṣṇa. Monier-Williams also records Cāru as the name of a son of Kṛṣṇa and as an epithet of Bṛhaspati, the teacher of the gods. Name lists give Charu as "beautiful", "charming" or "sweet", in line with the dictionary. In modern India it is given to girls and to boys: Satyajit Ray's film Charulata uses Charu as the heroine's pet name, while the word has also long served as a man's name, as the son of Kṛṣṇa shows. It is short, soft and easy to say in any language.
