Chandan meaning
Chandan (चंदन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Sandalwood; anything most excellent of its kind
Also used to mean: fragrant
Chandan (चंदन) is Sanskrit candana, sandalwood. Monier-Williams gives it as the sandal tree, its wood, or the cooling paste made from it, and notes that sandal was so highly prized as a perfume that the word came to mean the best of anything at the end of a compound. Sandal paste is used in Hindu worship, for the forehead mark and in offerings to Shiva and Vishnu. Baby-name lists give the name as "sandalwood" or "fragrant", which matches the dictionary. Chandan is used across India.
