Mainak meaning
Mainak (मैनाक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
A mythical mountain, son of Himavat and Mena
Also used to mean: a Himalayan mountain, son of the Himalaya
Mainak (मैनाक) is Sanskrit maināka, the name of a mountain in Hindu mythology. Monier-Williams records Mainaka as the son of Himavat, the Himalaya, and his wife Mena, and as the only mountain that kept its wings when the god Indra clipped those of all the others; some texts place him in the sea between southern India and Lanka. In the Ramayana he rises from the ocean to offer Hanuman a resting place on his leap to Lanka. Name lists give "a Himalayan mountain", which fits. The name is used mainly in Bengal, where it is often written Moinak.
