Mrigesh meaning
Mrigesh (मृगेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of beasts (mṛga + īśa); recorded as a man's name
Also used to mean: lion, king of animals
Mrigesh (मृगेश) joins mṛga, "a forest animal, wild beast", especially a deer, with īśa, "lord". The result, "lord of beasts", is a poetic way of saying lion, and name lists give exactly that. Monier-Williams records Mṛgeśa as a personal name, and on the same page gives the parallel mṛgendra, "king of beasts", as the usual word for a lion. In Gujarat and Maharashtra the spelling Mrugesh is also seen.
