Purushottam meaning
Purushottam (पुरुषोत्तम) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The best of men; the highest being, Supreme Spirit, Vishnu or Krishna
Purushottam (पुरुषोत्तम) joins Sanskrit puruṣa, "person, spirit", with uttama, "highest". Monier-Williams gives it as an excellent man and as the highest being or Supreme Spirit, a name of Vishnu and Krishna; it appears among the names of the Vishnu Sahasranama, and in the Bhagavad Gita Krishna calls himself Purushottama. Rama is honoured as Maryada Purushottam, the ideal of right conduct, and the temple town of Puri is also called Purushottama Kshetra. Name lists give "best among men" or "supreme being", the same as the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
