Nalin meaning
Nalin (नलिन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A lotus, water-lily; water
Nalin (नलिन) is Sanskrit nalina, the lotus or water-lily, which Monier-Williams cites from the Mahabharata and classical poetry; the old lexicons also give it as water and as the indigo plant. The dictionary suggests, with a query, that the word comes from nala, "reed", because of the plant's hollow stalk. Nalinī, a lotus plant or a pond full of lotuses, is the matching girls' name. Name lists give "lotus", matching the dictionary. Nalin is used mainly in North India.
