Arvind meaning
Arvind (अरविंद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A lotus
Arvind (अरविंद) is the Sanskrit aravinda, the lotus, which Monier-Williams cites from Kālidāsa's Śakuntalā and later poetry; the old grammarians explain it as formed from ara, "spoke", and vinda, "finding". The lotus is the flower most closely tied to the gods in Hindu art, and aravindākṣa, "lotus-eyed", is a name of Viṣṇu. Name lists give Arvind as "lotus", matching the dictionary. The name is used all over India: Aravind in the South and Arabinda in Bengal, the name made famous by Sri Aurobindo.
