Palash meaning
Palash (पलाश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The flame-of-the-forest tree, Butea frondosa, and its blossom; a leaf, petal
Also used to mean: flowering tree, flame of the forest
Palash (पलाश) is the Sanskrit palāśa, the tree known in English as the flame of the forest (Butea frondosa, now Butea monosperma), famous for its fiery orange blossoms in spring. Monier-Williams gives the word as a leaf, petal or foliage, as the blossom of this tree, and as the tree itself. Its flowers were traditionally used to make the colour for Holi, and the Battle of Plassey takes its name from the palash trees of that place. Name lists give "flowering tree" or "flame of the forest", which match the dictionary.
