Vasant meaning
Vasant (वसंत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Spring, the brilliant season; spring personified, companion of Kama
Vasant (वसंत) is the Sanskrit vasanta, the spring season, which Monier-Williams glosses as "the brilliant season" and places from about mid-March to May. In poetry Vasanta is personified as the friend and companion of Kāmadeva, the god of love. The word also names a classical metre and a musical measure. The festival of Vasant Panchami, devoted to the goddess Saraswati, marks the coming of spring, and Raga Vasant is sung in the season. Name lists give the name simply as "spring", matching the dictionary. In South India it is usually written Vasanth, and in Bengal and Punjab Basant.
