Sivabalan meaning

Sivabalan (சிவபாலன்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.

Child of Shiva, that is, Murugan

Sivabalan (சிவபாலன்) means 'child of Shiva', a way of naming Murugan, the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati. It joins Śiva with pālaṉ, the Tamil form of Sanskrit bāla, which Monier-Williams gives as young or a child, especially a little boy; the Tamil Lexicon traces pālaṉ to bāla and gives the related pālakaṉ as an infant or son. Murugan is above all a god of youth, and many of his Tamil names stress the boy-god, as Bala Murugan does. In Sri Lanka the name is often spelt Sivapalan, reflecting Tamil spelling.
