Gaurik (गौरिक) looks back to Gaurī, "the brilliant goddess", Pārvatī, whose name comes from gaura, "white" or "golden". Monier-Williams records gaurika in two senses: white mustard, and as a name for the ancient king Māndhātṛ that is taken from his mother. Indian name lists give Gaurik as "son of Gauri", that is Ganesha, or simply as "fair". The dictionaries do not record it as a name of Ganesha, so that is a modern reading, though a natural one from the way the word is built. It is a recent, short choice that pairs with girls' names such as Gaurika.
