Seemant meaning
Seemant (सीमंत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, सी, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Parting of the hair; boundary, limit
Seemant (सीमंत) is the Sanskrit sīmanta, the parting of the hair, a word Monier-Williams cites from the Atharva Veda, the domestic ritual texts and the Mahābhārata. It also means a boundary or limit, and in Suśruta's medical work one of fourteen lines of separation on the body that match the joints of the bones. The word gives its name to sīmantonnayana, "the parting of the hair", one of the twelve saṃskāras, a rite performed for a woman in the fourth, sixth or eighth month of pregnancy and still kept in many regions under names such as Seemantham. MW also records Sīmanta as the name of a prince and of a poet.
