Vihang meaning
Vihang (विहंग) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Sky-going, flying; a bird; also a cloud, the sun, the moon
Vihang (विहंग) is the Sanskrit vihaṃga, literally "one that goes through the sky". Monier-Williams gives it as sky-going and flying, and as a noun a bird; the same word is used poetically for an arrow, a cloud, the sun and the moon, all things that travel across the sky. It is close to vihaga and vihaṃgama, other Sanskrit words for a bird. Name lists give Vihang simply as "bird", and some link it to Garuda, Vishnu's eagle mount, though the dictionary does not. The name suits parents who want an image of freedom and flight. Vihangi is used as a girls' form.
