Arjav (आर्जव) is a Jain and Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Straightness; rectitude; honesty, frankness, sincerity
Also used to mean: sincere, straightforward
Arjav (आर्जव) comes from Sanskrit ārjava, formed from ṛju, "straight". Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective meaning straight, honest and sincere, and as a noun meaning straightness, rectitude, and honesty, frankness and sincerity, a sense found in the Chāndogya Upaniṣad, the Mahābhārata and the law book of Manu. Ārjava is named among the ten yamas, the moral restraints, in Hindu texts such as the Śāṇḍilya Upaniṣad, and it is also one of the virtues taught in Jain texts; the name is used by Jain as well as Hindu families. Name lists give Arjav as "honest", "sincere" or "straightforward", all supported by the dictionary.
